This year, I wanted to make Hanukkah cookies that were elegant. I made one set of round, blue cookies with a dreidel on them, another with a gold Star of David on a gold scroll background:

I "cheated" with these: the cookies were store-bought Walker's Shortbread Lemon Thins (certified Kosher); they were iced with white royal icing and, once it was hard, I glued the wafers (kosher) on with Karo light corn syrup (also kosher). They didn't require a border, so they were a quick way to make a pretty cookie.

I made Star of David sugar cookies, iced, glued on wafers, and piped a stiff border with a #16 tip. Cutting out the stars from the sheet of wafer paper was a test in patience, but I think the end result was worth it!
The wafer papers are available at my shop.
